Blind Dates

Tintin Herge
Hi

How many of u have been on a Blind Date of any kind ?? I am planning one next weekend and would love to hear your experiences.

Tintin

Paul Ralph
I've never been on a blind date (sorry), but I have a question: Did you mean to say, plan to go on a blind date? You can't go on a blind date unless the someone else sets it up for you. That is, you know next to nothing about them.

Paul R

Andrew Shafer

I went on one blind date, then I married her.

Tony Alicea
For blind dates make sure they accept seeing dogs where you go for it (the date).

Tintin Herge
Planned in the sense that we have to decide when and where do we meet. U need to know at least that to have a date,Paul.

And my Man, Goran, is the Wimbledon KING.

i have been on several blind dates over the last 12 years... one of them in high school did not work out at all because everything that could have possibly gone wrong that night did. but, i ran into the girl about 5 years later... it worked out that time (or at least that night).

anyway, i went on 2 last year and i did not call either one again... i am going on a one-sided blind date this week. my friend told me to go to her office and ask the receptionist for her. of course, my friend was not there, but i got to check out the receptionist to see if i wanted to meet her. so, my friend and i are going to lunch this week and she is going to invite the receptionist to go along with us. pretty clever if you ask me.

Rosie Vogel
I went on a blind date about a year ago. Well, we met on the internet, sent two or three emails and had one phone call but to me that is still a blind date. It worked out really well and we've been happily in love ever since.

Anyway, Tintin, good luck, have fun, and let us know how it went.

Solveig Haugland
How did the date go? (There's a lot of good strips in Dilbert of his various blind dates. The one with the Giant Head, the conjoined twins, etc.) Give us the scoop.

My one blind date was completely chemistry-free. But then, that's how all my dating in Fargo went.

Eager Beaver
Hey Rosie,

It took us over 120 mails spanning 7 months and a couple of phone calls before we met last Saturday. Spent 2 hours together in a restaurant....was my first blind date.

Rosie Vogel
And? Did you find you had as much in common as you'd hoped?

Whoa, seven months of e-mail, I admire your patience.

Eager Beaver
Rosie,

I was on the spot well in advance and scouted around for a florist to buy some lovely Tulips but my search ended in vain.
She arrived right on time....the restaurant was already full, so we abided our time....and she was absolutely at ease. When I expressed my remorse at not finding the lovely Tulips she quipped "thoughts matter" with a disarming candour. Have a lot in common....most important being Trust.

Tintin Herge
Yep, Beaver. U have given me a bright Idea.

Tulips and Chocolates for now. Cant afford diamonds for a blind date. Maybe Later, if needed.

Any DOs or Donts ??

Tintin

Rosie Vogel
I am sure the chocolate and the tulips will be much appreciated. As for dos and donts, I don't think you need those. You seem like a very decent guy.

But just to be on the safe side : DON'T talk about computers if she is not a techie. (I'm starting to think of Dilbert as well).

Peter Lyons
I had the same experience as Andrew. It went so well that we're married with three kids now.

Nanjangud Nanjundaiah
I have had a great email friendship going on with a girl in India since September 1999. We have exchanged pics, and I have even called her a couple times. A very nice girl. Will be meeting her for the first time, when I go home on vacation later this year... should be an interesting experience.

We know so much about each other, but still there's this feeling she's a stranger until I meet her... I guess it's got something to do with smelling each other's pheromones

Eager Beaver
Hey TINTIN,

Do not carry chocolates if your rendezvous is going to be a restaurant or a coffee shop. Would be fine if you decide to meet in a park.

Tintin...remember this things a guy doesn't want to hear his blind date say :

Uhm, Tintin...the weekend's come and gone. Would it be too inquisitive if I asked how the date went?

Tintin Herge
Well, I am out of London since the past 2 weeks and so had to postpone it. but looking fwd to it as soon as i get back

Thanx for asking. U r a sweetie,Rosie.Did anyone tell u that before ??

Tintin

Rosie Vogel
One or two times, yes, but you can never hear that you're a sweetie too often .

I've also been told that I was too sweet and for my own good, I ought to be meaner. I found that so depressing. If we all think we have to be mean, what will the world come to? I suppose I'm a bit of a wimp but at least I'm not hurting anybody.

Tintin Herge
Thats exactly what I keep telling to some of my friends. I mean, being good and sweet is Ok but to Survive in this mean and fast world, u have to be Practical sometimes.

To strike a balance is the key thing and I see my female friends striking that balance much better than the guys.
