jME - Better than Xith3D IMO

Gregg Bolinger
Ran across another Scene Graph graphics API yesterday. jME. Good documentation and it seems to perform a bit better than Xith3D. I wrote a small piece on it on my weblog. See my sig for a link.

Anyone else used jME before for anything? Any thoughts?

I'm just now starting to fool with Jme. I played a bit with lwjgl, and of course, Jme is a framework that lies on top of that.

So far i'm impressed with the engine. The fact that it has milkshake and 3dsMax model imports is great.

I'd also like to hear anyone else's experiences with JME.

Also, Gregg (or anyone else), have you tried the ShavenPuppyGameLibrary that lies on top of lwjgl? I believe it's what puppygames.net uses to create their 3d games.

http://sourceforge.net/projects/spgl (have to use cvs to get files)

I've been running through some examples in the jME starter guide. I have started putting WebStart versions of them up and also plan to add the source code in the near future. You will need Java 1.4+ and right now I only have the libs for Windows. So if you want to see you can go have a look. Let me know if something doesn't work...

I've been following that post over there on the jme boards. I didn't know that was you.

I'm excited about learning more about jme after discovering their demos page. Some of the tech demos were very impressive, and ran at a great speed on my xp2100+.
